Our day will begin at 9am with a morning muster. This is simply a chance to touch base, check in and make sure everyone is ready for the day. After muster, your child will go outside and have time for free play. We strongly believe that time for kids to play together is critical for building social ties, creating rules and structure within their own games, and allowing them to expend some of the energy that they naturally have.
After fresh air we will engage in a socratic discussion to prime their minds for learning. These conversations will allow the kids to explore their own opinions and weigh them against the opinions of others. No right or wrong answers here, just respectful consideration of each others turn to speak and a chance to listen and think. Our guide will lead these discussions with probing questions to spark thought and curiosity.
Once the learners minds are activated, the kids will have a block of time for academics. The core academic buckets of reading, writing, and arithmetic will be filled using the homeschool curriculum of the parents choosing. Like Khan Academy for math? Great. Our guide will be there to assist with questions while your learner maintains a pace that you have established together for their learning.
Lunch and free play.
Afternoons will be used for project based learning. We will tackle large overarching projects, each of which will take roughly 6 weeks to complete. Examples of these include "What is your code?", "Be the CEO of your own life", "health equals wealth", "young entrepreneurs workshop." These projects will encourage the kids to think through how they interact with the world and actually put their academics into practice with hands on activities and experience.
We will then wrap our day with more time for movement and the kids completing their jobs and responsibilities to ensure our space is ready for the next day. We will have a final afternoon muster and kids can be picked up at 3pm.
